For the Sony FX3 and FX30, SIRUI has just produced a versatile cage that can be used as a full or a half cage when connected with the Sony XLR top handle. With a cold shoe mount, NATO rails on top and sides, and a detachable HDMI cable clamp, this cage has all the mounting options you could want. Thus, let's investigate this further.
SIRUI is renowned for its reasonably priced anamorphic lens portfolio, including the 1.33x anamorphic range for APS-C cameras and the recently released 1.6x anamorphic SIRUI Venus full-frame lenses. The Panasonic LUMIX S5II cage was the company's first foray into the camera accessory industry. They've returned with a model that fits the Sony FX3 and FX30.
SIRUI Cage Features
Cage is Tailor-made
The Sony FX3 and FX30 share the same camera body; hence the SIRUI cage is compatible with both cameras. This cage has a bottom half that goes around the camera as well as a top half that screws to the top of the camera and the side of the cage, making it removable.
Compatible with the Original Top Handle and side strap
Three 1/4"-20 screws (two on the sides and one at the bottom) provide a solid connection between the cage and your camera. You can keep this attachment on your Sony FX3/FX30 at all times because it does not significantly increase the camera's overall size. Also, the wrist strap is supplied to make shooting for more prolonged periods more bearable.
Because it's made of aluminum, the cage is long-lasting, strong, and not rust-prone. The cameras are secured to the cage at three different spots. Rubber feet keep the camera scratch-free. Put your camera in this durable cage to protect it from drops and scratches
Multiple Mounting Options
The camera's battery door is cut out of the bottom of the cage, along with six 1/4"-20 mounting points and a magnetic screwdriver. The cage features an Arca-style quick-release plate and comes with a Manfrotto-style plate. Put whichever camera plate you like on the bottom, of course.
Several 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting points with locating pins are located on the left and right sides of the cage. And you can attach anything to the NATO rails on each side. Finally, the cage has a detachable HDMI cable clip, which is always helpful and can prevent expensive repairs.
The cold shoe mount sits atop the half cage. The NATO rail bracket for the removable complete camera cage has threaded holes measuring 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16
The package includes two different types of fast-release plates, allowing for speedy transitions between handheld, tripod, and gimbal modes.
Super Light Weight
The hollow construction helps to minimize the heaviness of the cage even more, making it an excellent choice for rapid-fire shooting while on the go. The total weight of the cage is 150 grams or 0.33 lbs.
The SIRUI cage for the Sony FX3/FX30 is now available for purchase and can be had for $69. There is also, for the price of $99, a kit available that includes the exact top grip as the Panasonic S5II cage.
